1. Pick buyers drowning in repeat tickets
Target Shopify stores and small SaaS teams where one or two people answer the same questions all day. Search LinkedIn for titles like "Head of Customer Support", "Customer Experience Manager" or "Founder" at companies with 5 to 50 employees. Browse r/shopify, r/ecommerce, r/SaaS and the Shopify Community forums for posts like "drowning in where is my order emails". These people already feel the pain you solve.
2. Build a demo on their real content
Before you reach out, load their public help center, FAQ and shipping policy into your bot. Record a 60-second Loom of it answering three questions their customers clearly ask. A bot that already knows their return policy sells far better than a generic demo.
3. Send a short message with the demo
Keep it under 80 words and lead with their problem. Example: "Hi Sara, I trained a support bot on your help center. Here it is answering your three most common questions about shipping and returns: [Loom]. If it could take most of those tickets off your plate, would you try it live on your site for 14 days?" Send 15 of these a day by email or LinkedIn.
4. Set one simple price with a real annual discount
Offer one plan, for example $149 a month or $1,490 a year paid upfront, which is two months free. For first customers, add a founding offer: $990 for the first year, locked in for life as long as they renew. A single clear number is easier to say yes to than three tiers.
5. Run a paid pilot that converts to annual
Do not give away open-ended free trials. Offer a 14-day pilot for $99 that is credited toward the annual plan if they convert. Agree up front on one measure of success, such as the share of chats the bot resolves without a human, and check it together on day 14.
6. Ask for the annual payment in plain words
On the day-14 call, show their numbers, then ask directly. Example: "The bot handled about [their number] of chats on its own this week. The founding price is $990 for the year, minus the $99 you already paid. Want me to send the invoice now so you keep that rate?" Then stop talking and wait.
7. Remove the risk so annual feels safe
Most objections to paying a year upfront are about getting stuck. Offer a 60-day money-back guarantee on the annual plan and promise to do the setup and weekly tuning yourself in the first month. Send a Stripe payment link or invoice within an hour of the yes.
8. Repeat daily and track every reply
Keep a simple sheet listing each prospect, demo sent, reply, pilot start, and annual decision, and follow up once after 3 days and once after 7. Hulby, an AI cofounder, does this prospect research, demo prep and follow-up daily for founders who want help keeping the pipeline moving.
Mistakes to skip
- Sending a generic demo instead of one trained on the prospect's own help center.
- Offering long free trials with no agreed success measure and no end date.
- Showing three or four pricing tiers to someone who has not bought yet.
- Hinting at payment instead of asking for the annual invoice directly on the call.

What should I charge for an AI support bot annual plan?
Start with one plan around $1,490 a year, with a founding price near $990 for your first five to ten customers. Raise it once you have results to point to.
Why push annual instead of monthly?
Annual cash funds your runway, cuts churn in the first months, and gives you time to tune the bot until it performs. Monthly is fine as a fallback if they refuse.
What if they want a free trial?
Offer the $99 pilot credited toward the annual plan. A small payment filters out people who would never buy and makes the pilot feel serious.
What if the bot gives a wrong answer during the pilot?
Tell them upfront this can happen, set it to hand off to a human when unsure, and fix the source content the same day. Quick fixes build more trust than a perfect demo.
