A content calendar turns social media from a daily chore into a monthly routine. Instead of deciding what to post each morning, you decide once, and the rest of the month is simply showing up.
Step 1: choose how often you post
Pick a number of posts per week that you can keep up. Three is a good start for most small businesses. Multiply it by four and you know how many posts your month needs.
Step 2: choose your themes
Themes make planning fast. A simple mix for most businesses:
- What you sell: a product, a service or something new.
- A tip: something useful from your field.
- People: your team, your story or your customers.
- An offer or a moment: a deal, an event or a holiday.
With four themes and three posts a week, you rotate through them and never face a blank page.
Step 3: mark the dates that matter
Before filling in anything, mark the holidays in your country, the big days in your industry and your own events. These are the days people are most likely to pay attention, and they deserve a post made for the occasion.
Step 4: fill in the calendar
Now go day by day and give each slot a theme and a short idea. One line is enough: "tip: how to store coffee beans" or "team: meet Tom, our roaster". Resist writing the full posts yet.
Step 5: batch the work
Write all the captions in one sitting, then create all the images in another. Working in batches is much faster than switching between writing and designing for every post.
Step 6: review once a week
Take five minutes each week to check what is coming up. Swap a post if something new happened, like a new product or a sold-out item.
Or start with the finished month
Hulby does the whole process for you. It reads your website, plans a month of posts across your themes, puts each post on a day, makes the posts that land on holidays about the occasion, and designs everything in your brand. You review and post.
